Daniel Ross violin and viola d'amore maker
I share my workshop in Brittany with my wife Solen Lesouef - Irish flute maker. I make violin, viola, cello, and viola d'amore. I trained at the Newark School of Violin Making and I have 18 years' professional experience in instrument making.
I'm a violinist, so my principal musical interest is the violin family. I became facinated by the viola d'amore and its construction early in my career and since then, I have specialised in this unusual branch of instrument making.
With Solen I organise the Festival du violon de Plouneour Menez and I run the Ploun' Fiddle Band an amateur trad fiddle orchestra of 30 musicians.
